AFO Study

What: Comparative Effectiveness of Off-the-Shelf (OTS) vs. Custom-made Ankle-Foot Orthosis in Individuals with Stroke.

Groups:

Crossover Study: 80

  • 3 mo p stroke

  • semi-rigid OTS or poly articulating AFO

  • 12-75% norm walking velocity

V1: Orthotics, cast

V2: Orthotics, brace fitting

V3: PK lab, BL tests

V4-6: PK lab, change brace after each

V7-8: Last brace and Equipment return​

  • Muscle strength

  • Walking endurance

  • Fitbit x2 (wrist & AFO)

  • EMA Qs daily

  • Electrode insertion

  • Muscle strength

  • Insoles to measure walking

  • Video recording of walking

  • Fitbit x2 (wrist & AFO)

  • EMA Qs daily
